Energy Mark

Product family

Air conditioning and heat pumps

Room, cassette and tower ACs, light commercial units, chillers, heat pumps and air coolers. How their energy test behaves, what Energy Mark reads early, and where each product is regulated.

The test

What the energy test looks like

Units run in a calorimeter or psychrometric room at fixed indoor and outdoor conditions. Capacity and power are recorded once readings hold steady. Variable-speed units repeat this at several load points to build a seasonal rating.

The early read

What Energy Mark reads

  • Time for capacity and power to settle at each test point
  • Compressor speed and fan behaviour
  • Air-side and refrigerant-side temperatures
  • Room condition drift

It predicts: Steady-state capacity and power at each test point, and the seasonal efficiency rating, each with a range. The certified result still comes from the full test.
