Energy Mark

Product family

Power, solar and storage

Transformers, solar inverters and modules, generator sets, traction batteries and EV chargers. How their energy test behaves, what Energy Mark reads early, and where each product is regulated.

The test

What the energy test looks like

Transformers go through a temperature-rise test that runs until oil and winding temperatures settle. Inverters and chargers are measured at several load points. Batteries are cycled, sometimes for weeks.

The early read

What Energy Mark reads

  • Oil and winding temperature trend
  • Losses at each load point
  • Charge and discharge curves
  • Ambient and cooling conditions

It predicts: Final temperature rise and losses, conversion efficiency, or capacity retention, with a range. The certified result still comes from the full test.

Standards by market

The band always comes from the formula your market publishes.

India

IS 1180 and IS 2026 for distribution transformers, IS 17980 for grid-connected solar inverters, BEE Schedules 17, 18, 29, 35 and 41.

European Union

Ecodesign for power transformers.

United States

DOE 10 CFR Part 431 for distribution transformers.

Other markets

The applicable national standard and its published formula.
